Next stop………………………

Today is the day.  Jim’s last day of work.  Retirement begins tomorrow.

Retirement:  That’s when you return from work one day and say, “Hi, Honey, I’m home – forever.”  ~Gene Perret

I am so happy for my dear husband.  He has worked so hard all his life.  He started as a boy mowing lawns, and has worked every day, ever since as well as served our Country. Now it is his time.  Time for him to do the things in life he wants to do, not the things someones else decides he should do each day.  He can get out of bed when he wants, he can drink his coffee slow or fast.  He can crawl under a vehicle and mechanic if he wants, or he can decide today is not the day and do something else, or do nothing at all.  Jim is not a lazy man, I assure you he will be projecting away, but it will be on his timetable, and his projects.  He will finally get to have the yard maintained the way he wants it, with flowers that he could not have before because of their need for constant watering, and neither of us having the time to take care of them.  Retirement will fit him well.

Retirement has been a discovery of beauty for me.  I never had the time before to notice the beauty of my grandkids, my wife, the tree outside my very own front door.  And, the beauty of time itself.  ~Hartman Jule

We are both very excited to start this next chapter of our life.  Although I am unable to retire at this time, with him retiring, I am going to get to semi-retire.  I will not have to worry about the pets, the upkeep of the home, cooking and shopping, Jim has graciously agreed to take on those chores freeing up my time after work, so we will have more time to spend together.

I try to treat each evening and weekend as little slices of retirement because no one is guaranteed a lengthy one at the end of their career.  ~Mike Hammar

And on March 30 our part-time RV adventures begin.  We purchased our TOAD, and Jim will spend the next month getting GROVER and GURTIE  in shape for our adventures.

Don’t simply retire from something; have something to retire to.  ~Harry Emerson Fosdick

With all my hart……………………………………
